Various vincas? Pale plumbagos? My goodness, such alliteration. Here in the Bay Area, the cannas have been spectacular this year. A little extra warmth this past Spring allowed them some grace of growth... they are a foot or more taller than usual. My "Bangkok Yellows" are topping out at seven feet! Curcumas, unfortunately, are not to be seen here, as a rule. Our mild, rainy winters simply rot out the dormant rhizomes.

Have you visited the Fairchild Botanical

Gardens in Miami yet? If you have even the slightest interest in plants, it's a must see! They have the world's largest collection of palms... you may think that if you've seen one palm tree, you've seen 'em all, but a visit to Fairchild will change your opinion!!!
