The other day someone that I've seen who lives outside of IL contacted me wanting to send some cash as a Xmas gift. This is someone who've I've talked with a lot before and after our time together so I felt comfortable. He asked me if I had Google wallet since I think he knew I had an Android phone. I've never used it but I installed it and did the setup. After I did all that he sent me a test deposit of $1 to make sure it worked, it did. His full name was never sent to me, just his first and last initial. He only needed my email that I used to set it up. I seemed secure and pretty anonymous. Just putting it out there for the clients that might want an alternative to giving cash or repaid bank cards.

Hugs,

Greg

Wow, that's an excellent idea. I think I'll try it sometime. :)

I know gift giving has been mentioned on this site before and maybe many of you gift a lot but even though I've hired on and off for a while now, this year is the first time I've ever sent a Xmas gift to someone I hired....just someone special.

You guys in the US don't have Email transfer from bank to bank, right?

In Canada, you simply go to your online banking, set a payment and it is all sent through email. In less than 30 minutes the cash is deposited safely and discreetly in the recipient's account.

That being said, I still prefer cash.

I just looked at my bank app and I could transfer via email to someone. I haven't used that before and I'm not sure, but they probably need to have the same bank. I'll look into that. Thanks.

Yes we have that at least I do through my bank. Just used it today to send some Jack ass $10. Why he's a jack ass is another story.

I use Square on occasion for my business. When I do, I get the digits over the phone from clients. Then enter the data on my Square app. They charge me their highest rate (maybe 4%) because I do this without the card. If I had the card - they would charge me less. Cash shows up in my checking account 48 hours late. Works like clockwork

The largest amount of a transaction has been $5800. The amount of the fee is of no consequence to me because I add the fee to the invoice.

No fee with the Google wallet or through my banks transfer that Juan mentioned.

With my bank a nearly instantaneous transfer can take place if the person I am sending to also uses my bank. If they do not, then I can send the money but it can usually take 5 to 8 days for the transaction to go through. The time presupposes that the person that I am sending the money to accepts the payment. If they do not, the transfer can sit there for a certain number of days.

I thought I'd mention the Google wallet option since at least for me after accepting the transfer it credited my account within minutes. Also say someone hires for an hour but things are going super well and he wants to extended it but didn't bring the cash. Doing a payment through Google wallet or maybe bank transfer is easier and less time consuming than trying to hunt down an ATM. Also another option for this is if one is being flown to another city for an overnight or weekend. That can be a bit of cash to be carrying around and again trying to get to an ATM to deposit can be a pain.

When you sign up for Google wallet, you can link a debit or credit card. The best is if you link your bank's checking account also. They need to verify your checking account first. If you send or add cash to your wallet and use debit or credit, I believe there is a charge and it may take 2 or 3 days. If you send from your checking account, there is no charge and almost immediate.

Just clarifying. I think I got it right.
