How do you 'bury' undesirable links to your name on the internet?

I was recently participating in a webinar about marketing yourself through social media. One of the topics concerned the 'burying' of undesirable links to your personal name, stage name, (escort name even). When you can't convince the author of the link to take it down, there are methods to 'bury' the link deep down the pages when somebody does a search on you.

 

One of the websites specializing in this is www.brandyourself.com which is not the most user-friendly method.

 

Does anybody know of different tools to accomplish this result?

 

I would think this is of interest to escorts leaving the business. Or when a client's name has been compromised.
