I really enjoyed using rentboy.

 

Jeffrey Hurant, who was one of many Rentboy.com employees arrested on prostitution charges in August, took to Facebook on Oct. 28, asking the public for donations to support Rentboy.com's legal team.

 

I realize that I have been very quiet on Facebook since my arrest on August 25th. I have been advised by legal counsel not to make any public statements about the case. As any of you who know me can guess, this hasn't been easy for me.

I'm more worried about this. If DHS and the AG's office find out they can easily persecute a Gay man because he has bad hair and flies first class, there are 94 U.S. Attorney's districts conveniently located in every state. They can easily shut down Daddy and you won't be able to post anymore. They don't have to actually prove anything, they just have to arrest him based on a whole bunch of claims that sound like this: GAY SEX IS BAD. Then they can use whatever website you manage to run an ad on to entrap and arrest you. Then they can start going after johns by running fake escort ads on whatever website they allow to stay up. Then they can demand Visa and Mastercard stop processing transactions from any website they claim "facilitates prostitution." This is all part of the arsenal that is currently being employed. It is NOT 1984 or science fiction.

 

Which potential threat would you rather have DHS focused on? Terrorists who want to kill thousands of Americans in 9/11 style attacks by taking down buildings or the electric grid, or escorts and the people who hire them, who are alleged to be engaging in horrific, scary, and morally unjustifiable acts of sex? (Don't even get me started on diapers and sneakers).

 

I don't really give a shit about Jeffrey's hair cut. What I give a shit about is my freedom.

I think I have said what I wanted to say about the various fundraisers for 'rentboy7' and for Mr. Hurant individually. What I would like to know is the following: how many gay organizations in the US have actually endorsed these fundraisers? The fundraisers have at rare occasions been mentioned in a few rags and blogs, but as far as I know there is not one gay organization that has actually said 'we endorse these fundraisers'. How come?

 

If anything, these fundraisers have been met with indifference and a massive YAWN. Good luck getting to the $250k, the $1O million - whatever the fund raising goal of the day is.

 

And by the way, I sort of like Mr. Hurant's hair style in that picture. It is creative. I'd like to know which barber shop he goes to.

I can't speak for any gay rights organization, but I can speak for myself.

 

If I were in Jeffrey's shoes, I might decide that I might want to plea bargain. This will shock you, Baron, but there are people that used Rentboy everyday that now feel completely fine about the idea that the small businessman who ran it should be castrated legally and morally by the government, and thrown in jail to rot. It seems a little bit cold to me, to say I'll use your website for free day after day, complain about what a shitty job you did running it, and then cheerlead when the government persecutes you. But believe it or not, Baron, there are people who actually think that way. Shocking, isn't it?

 

For me, it's not an issue. I've given money to Jeffrey's defense, and I'll give more, knowing that ultimately it might simply be a humanitarian gesture and he's going to end up in jail, anyway. I'll feel like I did the best I could to stick up for Gay escorts, Gay clients, Gay businesses, Gay rights, Gay freedom.

 

Given all the uncertainty I just spelled out, I can imagine that there are a lot of Gay Rights groups and Gay millionaires who are waiting to see where this goes.

 

Actually, I know for a fact that this is EXACTLY the same as the same sex marriage fight. I know some of the people who were at the center of that, and are close to the so-called Gay Mafia that helped fund the same sex marriage fight. At the beginning of any campaign like this the people with the most money and the most credibility hold back. So as much as groups like ACLU and Lambda Legal might be watching, and have already written about why this bust is wrong, and might jump in in any number of ways down the line, it kind of makes sense to me that right now they are taking a "wait and see" position.

 

Which is good news for the people who would rather see Jeffrey rot in jail. I know you personally are like me, loving and kind, and would never wish somebody like Jeffrey ill. But sadly there are Gay people who used Rentboy all the time who want to see him punished. Weird, isn't it?

By the way, Baron. You're right about one other thing. The fund Dave and me and the other escorts did put together was a flop. This new one is obviously doing better - went from $7000 or so on Monday to $23,000 today.

 

Thanks for pointing out that the escorts who tried to come in early and quickly were just like David in a fight with Goliath. We fucked up, and just got our asses kicked, just like David did in his fight with Goliath.

Call DHS. They can probably tell you, since they've confiscated all that information, like the real names of all the escorts as well as others as well probably.
