Recommendations for what? Hotel? Things to see? Activities? "Work" environment?

I read that there is a terrible problem now with huge amounts of algae washing up on the beaches and rotting in the hot sun.

You get used to the smell after a while...they have guys out there making 5 dollars a day raking it up.
