I was wondering if there were any other bottoms here who are dealing with prostatitis. My doctor's advice is to abstain. Easy for him to say. Does anyone have any more realistic advice, or know of any other boards on the net where I could get some information?

See doc. (You obviously have.)

He likely gave you an antibiotic. Follow the instructions. Take them all as directed. DO NOT STOP even when you feel better.

Hot (sitz) baths are helpful and may make you feel better.

Finally, what to do with your 'bottom' while you're sick... It depends.

If this is acute prostatitis, any prostate stimulation can actually cause bacteremia (release of bacteria into the bloodstream)... not a good thing.

Chronic prostatitis: in the 'old' days (before some types of antibiotics), prostate massage was advocated and done. I would guess (but it's only a guess since I'm not a urologist) that there is little difference between a digital prostate massage and a nice, slow, gentle (emphasize 'gentle') fuck. Obviously any deep pain is a signal to stop.

Since your doc knows the specifics of your situation and assuming he knows what he's doing, my final advice would be to listen to him.

Hope this helps.

Try http://www.gayhealth.com. It's a very reliable Web Site and the best I have found on gay health.

I'm not a doctor, but I do know from my own experience with prostatitis (not from bottoming) that this condition is not always associated with an infection. (That little gland is very sensitive and can easily act up for a variety of reasons.) It can be an inflammatory condition without any infection involved. Best to be checked out by a urologist. Not a good idea to take antibiotics if there's no infection.

One of the NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflamatory drug) may help reduce the inflamation: asprin, aleve, etc. but not tylenol. You can ask your doctor about a corticosteroid such as prednesone.

I have come down with prostatitis a few times. I am a major size queen, and I like getting fucked very aggressively. The problem cleared up both times with a course of antibiotics. The second time took almost a month to heal. That was because I didn't ease off the anal sex until my orgasms became too painful. Now I try to allow 5-7 days between rough fucks. If your ass is sore, give it a rest.
