For many years I was haunted by images from a movie about a mechanical godzilla. I was convinced I'd seen it at age 6 with my cousin and his friends. My mom swore no such outing had occured. While devoting special time to avoiding college coursework by aimlessly browsing an extremely obscure videostore (even more specialized than the famous one near the 405 and Santa Monica Boulevard) I discovered "The Terror of MechaGodzilla". The movie sucked, but all my paranoia about slowly going insane was invalidated. Mom apologized, but is no help with my other lost memory. Can you help?

When I was about 4 I saw a film centered around The Golden Apples fable. I do not remember if it was Greek themed (Hera, Hercules, and Atlas) or from Norse Mythology (Loki, Thjasse, and Idun). Over the last 25 years random soft-focus images have danced in and out of my deep conscious and also my dreams:

*After a long imprisonment in a concrete tower-open at the top-a man crawled out usinga special rope-perhaps made out of hair (from a giant?)

*There was another man, tied to a tree, who put a singing leaf, from another nearby tree, into his lips. Somehow this act helped him to escape (I know, sounds like a youthful LSD voyage).

*Someone presented fake golden apples to a court, which were weighed on a large Sandra-Day-O'conner styled scale against the real ones. When the fabrications tipped the scales, they burst into flames and so the trickster (sounds like Loki to me) was found out.

*I also think I remember something about a harp, and one bad string on it. But this last recollection is draped with a filter thicker than the cheese clothe they used to shoot Barbara Walters.

This was not a cartoon, this was live action.

That's it. I don't suppose this rings any triangles with any of you? If not, where can one go, besides (the dead?) yesterdayland.com to ask questions of the kind of film geeks that have seen, and memorized EVERYTHING out there? IMDB.com of course revealed my birthday film, The Golden Apples, in 1973, however accordinng to the "blurb" this takes place in NYC. So that's obviously a dead end.

I nead some helpful freaks. And perhaps I can scoop out some more dissolved brain candy, if that would help. Thanks.
