Need Recommendation on Where to Stay in Honolulu

Hi everyone....hope someone can give me some good advice. Planning my first trip to Hawaii in a couple months (end of April) and need a recommendation on where to stay in Honolulu. First need to find the base of operation and then consider who to hire or bring along (doesn't seem to be much choice in Hawaii). So if anyone can give me a point in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

You don't really say what your interests are in Honolulu, but...

 

I've been to Hawaii 14 times. The Park Shore Hotel is across from Waikiki Beach and overlooks Kapiolani Park, Diamond Head, and the gay beach (Queen's Beach). Hula's (popular gay bar) is in the hotel next door. The hotel pool is elevated and overlooks the beach, and there's everything in terms of shopping and restaurants all around. Waikiki's best gym is just a few blocks away; it too overlooks the beach.
