Hello Everyone,

I have a question. I am looking for a USA distributer, either with a web site or 800 number, that sells foreign videos/DVDs of all kinds - everything from general audience movies to adult.

To be more specific, I am looking for a way to order Les Dieux du Stade : Le Making Of du calendrier 2004 ( Gods of the Stage: Making Of the calendar 2004).

I was able to download the actual calendar from the net. However, I would love the DVD behind the making of the calendar.

Thanks for any help any of you can offer.

PEACE

Here is the DVD cover.

You can go here to see some calendar pics:

Go direct to their site, but beware the DVD is regional coded for Europe....if you don't have a multi-regional player you won't be able to view it (unless they have a US version out by now)

Hello Rick,

If this is the site you are talking about http://www.stade.fr then, even after I translated it, I am not sure how I can order it. The whole Euro thing threw me (though Euros are pretty :) ) And do they ship to USA?

Thanks

VDN

A simple, clueless American.

credit card company will do the money conversion and yes they ship to US (and there are some cuties on that DVD let me tell you---not a lot of dick shots but fine all the same)

Thank you Rick for the info! Is there any way to order here in the US though? I am always leery about using my credit card outside of the US boarders. I am sure it is fine but I am picky that way. When you ordered how long did it take?

Also, YES, there are some cuties for sure. I was able to download some real player clips from the last "making of" at the web site. Fun for sure!

Be cautious about ordering from them. I ordered the calendar and DVD from them. It has been charged to my credit card but no delivery. The charge was made over 70 days ago. I sent email but it goes unanswered.

Thank you Cajun!

That is why I want to find an American distributer that sells foreign imports. I hope you get your goods!

If you'd feel more comfortable ordering from a large, reputable company, the dvd is available from Amazon's French website (amazon.fr) at a slightly lower price. Given that all of Amazon's websites look the same, not being able to speak French isn't a barrier to finding and ordering things there. What is potentially at issue is whether you will be able to watch the dvd. It not only is region coded (for Europe and "the Orient" only) but it will also be in PAL format. I think that these issues are easy to get around on a computer (where the PAL format won't matter and where dvd-rom drives usually allow an easy change of region code, at least a limited number of times) but could very well make the disc unplayable on most standard dvd players in the U.S.

Oh, to publically answer the questions I got via email:

1. I have ordered from amazon.fr but do not speak French. I haven't tried to translate the site. I have ordered numerous times from amazon's U.S. and U.K. sites, however, and they all look the same. Just click the same buttons and it will all work out.

2. Use a search engine to find a currency converter. The amazon.fr site lists prices in euros, for which you can get a U.S. dollar estimate by using a currency converter. Amazon's website will automatically deduct the "value added tax" (VAT or "TVA" on the French website) when the item is to be shipped to the U.S.; this change in price will be reflected after you've signed in (or created an account) with a U.S. address. Of course if you live in a state with a sales/use tax, you are supposed to pay that tax on your own to the state in which you reside, but in reality almost no one ever does.

3. The shipping charge is relatively high if you are only ordering one item, but it isn't prohibitive if you really want the item. Again, check the currency converter after adding the item to your cart on the amazon.fr website, at which point a separate charge for shipping should be visible.

I just added the item in question to my cart and got the following information: Item discounted to 20.89 euros after VAT is deducted; 10.90 euros shipping charge; order total 31.79 euros or about $40 at today's exchange rate.

Hope this information helps.

Hey VDN,

Try the link listed at the end of my message here. Not only will the website be translated into English, you can order the 2004 calendar, the DVD of the making of the 2004 calendar, the official (?) t-shirt, but you can order all three items in a package deal. Also, you can order the 2003 and 2001 calendars separately, and you can order the 2003, 2002, & 2001 calendars in a package, or the 2002 & 2001 calendars in a package as well. They also ship to many countries, including the U.S. and the website will automatically convert Euros into U.S. dollars for you as well. I just placed my order tonight and hopefully I'll get it here in the Bay Area (San Jose, CA to be exact) within a few weeks, if not months (God I hope not!). Hope this will help you out. Enjoy!

There's a site http://www.xe.com that works great w/ currency exchanges.

If you're looking for an all-region DVD player, I got a nice one from a site at http://www.hkflix.com. They are a US based company. I have been having alot of fun with the region 2 and 4 DVDs from the UK and Australia.

Thanks for the nice man on Ebay who allowed me to get 2 Graham Norton DVD's for a dollar cause they were region 2.

Doh!
