HIV+ Montco Man Faces Bail Revocation

Montgomery County prosecutors are attempting to revoke the bail of an HIV-positive suspect who was caught in an underage-sex sting.

 

When Edward Miller was caught, he allegedly told detectives he was HIV positive. High bail was set, but the Lower Providence resident managed to raise the money and obtain his release.

 

Now, DA Bruce Castor warns in a motion to have the bail revoked that Miller poses a grave risk of death to members of the community if he can't restrain his sexual urges:

 

 

"These people rarely do this as an isolated incident. So a guy who's cruising chat rooms trying to get 12-year-old boys is very likely to have done it in the past and is more likely to do it in the future if he's released."

 

The HIV revelation also set off alarm bells. DA Castor is urging anyone who has had sexual contact with Miller to call a doctor for testing.

Believe me, I am no fan of those who have sex with 12-year olds (ask my friends about my rants about Michael Jackson).

 

What I do not see in this article, however, is that there was evidence that the man was having, or planned to have, unsafe sex.

 

People who are HIV+ who practice safe sex and inform their sex partners are not murderers, as this seems to imply.

 

Safe or not, if he has sex with boys, I say cut his balls off. Just don't call all sexually active HIV+ people murderers.
