Any recommendations for a decent comfortable place?

I would suggest the Nash Hotel located in the heart of South Beach (right on Collins Avenue and 11th street). This is a boutique hotel, 4 star property, recently renovated, very decent.

Check out their website http://www.hotelnash.com

The hotel has free high speed internet in the rooms. The only “problem” is that the hotel is not "Ocean front" and there is no swimming pool but three small spa pools. Book a deluxe corner room overlooking the yard. The standard rooms seem to be smaller. Contact me privately if you’re interested and I’ll send you the website offering the best rate.

Warm regards, Steven

Your requirements aren't too specific so I'm not really sure what you are looking for.: price, quality, location, ambience... Having recently returned from SOBE I was very pleased with the Cardozo. Not a perfect place certainly, but we had a perfect time!! See my comments in thread below (page 2 at the moment, I think) . If you are looking for a nice enough, spacious suite without beach view but with a nice rate check out the Nassau Suites. My second choice.

It is a peak weekend, and everything is well booked.

Beach view is not esential. I like walking around Wahington and even from Collins. Also, prefer a clean updated place.

Have stayed at the SoBe Marriott before it became so popular and pricey and filled to the rafters. I liked the St Augustine down Washington with their steam showers, and plan to go back on a slower weekend.

Anyone know the condition of the Island House?
