The link to "Julius/NYC" has the same pics that are being discussed in Trent in Tampa thread which I guess really belong to Rafael Leonidas???

What a lot of work.

In other words, the photos are bogus at least with respect to the current "escort" advertising.

What a pity there is so much scamming taking place in connection with false advertising and using the photos of others or using photos of the escort but the photos are sometimes more than ten years old.

The fact that the bogus ads continue without interruption confirms that the bogus ads are profitable at least to the persons who continue to place bogus ads.

No, that is not a correct characterization. When the ad was being posted for Trent, there were a different set of pictures, stats, etc. Now the model has changed to Julius. Other members have said the person in the Trent pictures sometimes dances at a club in NYC...although no one has claimed to have hired him. This is a booking agent....the models change from time to time...doesn't necessarily mean that it's bogus...doesn't mean that it's legit.

Just curious, how do you know this is a booking agent?

Also, assuming that it is a booking agent and that fact is not disclosed in the ad (that includes several photos of a specific escort) how is this not bogus?

If I were to advertise a product and include in the ad, photos of a specific product, substituting something else for what is in the ad (without prior disclosure) is bogus. If an agent is doing this, it is a "bait and switch" maneuver.

For example, if I were an agent and I offered to the public, a yacht or large boat for rent but when the customer showed up to rent the boat, I substituted the boat for a canoe or a small raft, this clearly would be bogus. If I told the disappointed customer that I was an agent, I cannot see that an agent has immunity from "truth in advertising" that varies from state-to-state. Yes, I realize that laws do not affect the type of advertising we are discussing on this forum.

Morally, to place an ad and use the photos of a different person or use photos that are many years old is bogus. If one prefers to not call the action bogus, it is certainly misleading. Such behavior causes a lot of consternation for clients who read bogus ads and respond to them.

From remembering prior posts, such as as this one, where the agent is acknowledged by other posters who actually met the escort in the ad at a club in NYC

http://www.companyofmen.org/showthread.php?98839-411-Anthony&highlight=trent

The ad at that time featured a guy named Anthony, completely different in appearance from Trent and Julius. But it now links to Julius.

The ad sometimes features porn actor Jeremy Walker. The at one time featured a guy named Jessie, who other posters claimed to have met at the club in New York, who just a few months ago started escorting independently in LA under a new name. I answered the ad once when it featured a former Sean Cody model, but I discontinued contact when I realize I was not dealing with the escort directly.

For years the escort Tristan Waters for Orlando had a booking agent that wasn't disclosed in his ads. It was only revealed here in the forum. No one seemed to have a problem with that and he wasn't or isn't bogus. If the agent actually represents the person in the ad, how is that bogus, just because the escort isn't booking the appointments directly? It's only bait and switch if these guys aren't really represented by the agent. While I don't remember any fellow posters claiming to have hired theses guys in the ad, they have claimed to see the guys dancing at the club in NYC at the same time the Rentboy ads appear. So there is some chance the ads are legit. Others are welcome to draw there own conclusions. But unlike the "Jason Crystal scam" ads, this one hasn't necessarily been proven to be a scam.

Thanks for your opinion on using a supposed agent even though the use of an agent is not disclosed in ads that show specific escorts.

In my previous post, I stated:

Do you really believe that clients who read rentboy (and other similar type sites) think it is acceptable if a different person other than the escort in the ad shows up for a scheduled session? The possibility of an agent being involved in the transaction has nothing to do with hiring an escort unless the agent is disclosed in the ad.

It is the photos together with the comments in the ad that prompt a client to contact an escort. If an intermediary or "agent" is involved in the transaction, that fact should be disclosed in the ad. It is difficult enough for a client and an escort to harmonize an appointment let alone a "secret" undisclosed agent getting in the middle of the scheduling. It is no wonder there are so many complaints about bogus ads.

I hold to my opinion, i.e., when an ad includes photos but if someone other than who is shown in the photos appears for the appointment, the transaction is bogus, an agent, notwithstanding.
