No way I could hire this man after seeing his scenes in porn movies - he has a higher pitched squeal in his bottoming scenes than Landon Conrad (and Landon sounds like a terrorized 12 year old girl when he bottoms).

I loved what you said about Landon Conrad. I can't recall if I agree so I will go and watch a scene later and get back here about it.

Wow! I never knew the difference between Bara and Yaoi before. Thanks Sincity! [edited to add:] ...oh, and there's more info after that wikipedia link from Sincity that I read after writing my thanks to Sincity. Thanks to you too, QTR! I should have known you would know these distinctions!

Wow, I wasn't expecting to run into a male fan of yaoi. (Unless my gender assumptions are wrong.) The BL/shounen ai series Gravitation was my gateway drug to fandom and Livejournal and slash fanfic.

I think the first m4m anime I ever saw was yaoi. I liked it but never was actively searching for it. I will try to find some bara now though.

Huh, interesting that there's bara anime. I'm only familiar with bara manga.

Do you remember which anime you saw? I'm wondering if it's Gravitation (not graphic, but that's the series whose creator draws totally filthy, hardcore gay porn based on her commercial series as a stress release), Ai no Kusabi, or Haru wo Daieta. I would recommend the Haru wo Daieta (about two former adult film actors from straight porn who get involved with each other as they're transitioning to mainstream acting) to anyone. The story's interesting, if at some points unrealistic, and the artwork is spectacular. It's explicit but not graphic or kinky.

Ai no Kusabi, which I haven't seen, is futuristic/sci fi and kind of rapey. Now that I think about it, it's probably not the kind of thing you like.

That rang a bell, I had to dig through my dvds, but I have ai no kusabi :)

a lot of the hard core stuff is pretty rapey. the reluctant virgin who turns into a raving sex maniac, all the time alternating between yes and no, stop and don't stop.

Bara is mostly manga, but I do remember a few bara anime. ill have to try and find the names

Sincitymix -- I was actually addressing my question, to TruHart1, but thanks for answering! As I said, I was surprised to hear of bara anime. I thought it was too much of a niche market and that I would have heard from it if it existed from an LJ friend whose first name is the same as mine. I guess she only likes bishies (short for bishounen, or beautiful man; we'd probably say "androgynous").
