I am glad it's back. Why did it not take place last year? Pressure from condominium owners in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood? And why would it be different this year, does the new 'code of conduct' have something to do with it?

It's called, yes but not in my neighborhood.

Neighborhoods evolve and so has that section of 28th Street where the street fair is held.

Even Christopher Street has evolved. A year or so ago I was browsing in the LeatherMan on Christopher Street and a young woman walked in as she was given an assignment by a professor of some graduate course to visit a number of business establishments that supposedly were located in the neighborhood. Unfortunately from what I overheard of the conversation many of them no longer existed, and the LeatherMan was one of the few still in business. They gladly gave her a tour of the store. However, I never heard what the title of the course was, and as such I'm not sure if it was related to sex in any way, or if it simply was designed to illustrate how neighborhoods develop over time. Somehow I assumed that the course had a sexual component, and if so it illustrated that things have even toned down on Christopher Street.

At at any rate, two years ago there was quite a bit of construction going on in the area of 28th street where Folsom is located which caused the area to be somewhat constricted. Last year I noted that there was much progress regarding the condos being built across the street from the Eagle and the construction barriers were still in place. I have not visited the area since last year and wonder how much more progress has been made... Some have hinted that the Eagle's days in the area might be numbered. We shall see... but at least there will be an event this year.
