I have been loaning through them for several years now. For a long time they only loaned to recipients in foreign countries, but recently opened the service up to US based folks. I have also gifted accounts to people, friends, family and colleagues - I like it better than gift cards. I like that it seems like you can really help make a difference in peoples lives, and you can read the results!

I have for at least five years. In all that time only one loan that I was involved in has defaulted. Although Kiva has its share of internet haters, I think it is a great concept
