Recommendation for hotel in Minneapolis?

Gentlemen, I will be in Minneapolis April 10-13 to participate in a fencing competition at the Convention Center. I have never been to Minneapolis, and I am sort of dreading going there. Would anybody have a good hotel recommendation? I typically like an old pile of bricks with plenty of old world charm. And of course, if you'd like to throw in advice on which escorts to hire or which gay bar to visit, I'd certainly appreciate it! Thank you very much!!!

For art-lovers and those who like modern and contemporary style, I'd recommend Le Meridien Chambers, that just opened last year (part of Starwood). The design is chic and the hotel lobby, public spaces and rooms are tastefully decorated with more than 200 art pieces. In addition you'll be right in the middle of the theater district and Hennepin Ave.

I booked a room in the 'Grand'. It looks like a lovely place, with access to the 50,000 sq ft Minneapolis Athletic Club in the same building! Now, if I could only find a suitable escort ... the 'obvious' guy there is str8 and charges 300
