If you leave around 10:00am, should only take about 80 minutes to get there from say, El Cerrito DMV or Walnut Creek Bart (680N from WC). 510 covers a lot of ground though. Returning after 6:30pm would be about the same time. You could kill time after the apointment visiting the Crocker art museum, and then have dinner in Sac before driving back.

If he was still in SF area I would have gone. But 2 hour trek to Sacramento it's harder to get me going.
