I'm sorry, it just strikes me as rather amusing to insert an asterisk in wh*re. I'll go ahead and admit it: I've wh*red myself out as a writer to make extra bucks. And yes, I felt demeaned. But not to the point where the word needs to be censored.

For those not in the know:

I just typed the "W" word three times above and that is how it appears... Hence the "wh*re" spelling... It's all programmed into this site... Try it... :)

 

Getting a bit back on topic... A friend turned on grindr in Hells Kitchen a couple of weeks ago and it almost exploded!!! Actually it explodes in most places in town!!! Even areas one would not expect!

IIRC, one of the admins once said the site software required that at least one word be censored - and considering the generally perjorative connotations, I can understand the choice. (and yes, I know that SOME escorts don't seem to mind the term or have tried to 'reclaim' it in the same way that some have reclaimed 'faggot'.) Or maybe it was joke.
