I am going to Toronto for a long weekend this summer to visit friends who live in the Yorkville section. Any comments on the following hotels:

1) Windsor Arms.

2) Park Hyatt.

3) Intercontinental.

4) Four Seasons.

Thanks for the info.

I stayed at the Four Seasons a couple of years ago and was not particularly impressed

- it seemed to me that it was over-priced and over-rated.

Have you considered the Yorkville Marriott? It's on the north side of Bloor between Yonge and Church?

It's a bit further east than the hotels you mentioned but (just) still Yorkville, and very convenient for a short walk down to the gay village.

It got quite expensive for a while, but if you can get a reasonable rate then I would definitely recommend it.

Oh, and if you are on a tight budget (which from your list of hotels it sounds as if you are not ...) you might consider the Quality Hotel

(midtown) at 280 Bloor W - it's a couple of blocks west of the hotels you mentioned, but still quite convenient for Yorkville.

You can't go wrong with the Windsor Arms. Super location! It is a small old hotel, completly renovated to super luxury status. Even in the old days (pre-reno) it was the favorite with movie stars. Katherine Hepburn was a regular and it was where Richard Gere stayed while making Chicago.

It would be my choice hands down.

Hi!

I go to Toronto once in a while and I've stayed at all of them. I found the Four Seasons to be overpriced too - and the service pretentious. They also overcharged me - and would not correct my account, so I wrote them off.

The InterContinental Hotel is very clean, bright, modern, but has little personality - and certainly not worth the price. Found my room rather small.

The Park Hyatt is a modernized old hotel. Very overpriced, Very small rooms, I was unimpressed.

I too agree that the Windsor Arms is THE place to be. It is a wonderful hotel in every respect. And worth every cent - and consider one of their upscale suites - truly worth it. And the staff was heavenly!!! (some tempting, but I am shy).

Hi there

Well I suppose the Windsor Arms it is depending on your $$. All of the hotels that you have mentioned are in the same general range however you should realy ask about discounts as the area has been hard hit by the SARS fears

Four Seasons is in need of a complete overhaul and the comments about the Park Hyatt are accurate.

If you need any additional help or direction for you trip e mail me directly...this is not a solicitation for your time but a genuine offer of assistance....enjoy Toronto it is a great city

Is the Park Hyatt the new name for the rebuilt Park Plaza?

Hi again!

Yes, the Park Hyatt is the old Park Plaza. BUT, I would not say it was rebuilt, it was renovated, quite a bit. However, the rooms and suites I was in were small and crammed with Hyatt type furniture. Overpriced too!

Just my two cents worth!
