This is the last of the 2012 movies that I have yet to see ... I put it off ... because I kinda figured the subject matter would put me off. Watched it last night. You know what? It was terrific. The performances, of course, by John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, and William H. Macy are beautiful. But I also thought that the subject matter -- sex therapy for the disabled -- was handled in an extremely tasteful way that really holds your interest without being tacky or open to obvious jokes. It's really about love and how we all need the physical despite whatever impediment we might have.

I ended up liking it very much, more than I thought and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it ....

It's played quite a while here in Philly and I saw it over the Christmas holidays. It's all that operalover says and then some. A wonderful and affirming movie about life and love. See it.

Very life-affirming. I thought it was very touching. It should get more attention -- and viewers -- than it has.

I think this movie offers us an opportunity to understand and address the broader topic of clients with "special needs" - disability can include a wide range of sexually related concerns for a lot of different men who might choose to see an escort to get a better sense of the problem, to assess whether the problem i real or imagined, and to address different way to deal whatever the limitation might be. A mature and professional escort is aware of their own skills and attitudes so that when a potential client presents with concerns, either real or imagined, the escort can determine whether they can legitimately be of assistance in an honest way. If they can, then you guys are really elevated to the position of a "therapist" or a "healthcare pro" - can you think of anything more valuable than helping someone figure out their sexual stuff?

I haven't seen any good threads that discuss any escort's "specialty" in working with clients who have physical or psychological concerns that interfere with their sexual performance. I have my own issue ( a physical disorder) that some therapists have chosen to completely ignore, while others assume a helpful, therapeutic role with much greater results. As a result, I have taken to describing my situation prior to hiring in the hopes o finding the escort most comfortable using themselves therapeutically with me rather than purely sexually. Everyone, to a person, says the right thing, but you can tell the ones who are thinkers and committed to both your pleasure and growth by the manner in which they respond, the depth an their openness.

I'd be interested in how the pros view clients who ask about whether they can deal with these kinds o things. As few are really trained, I understand it' no for everybody, but I do think it should be. Specialty for some.
