What I find one of the most difficult things while joining such a discussion/debate is to not respond back with hatred to those who started with hatred. That's what I find something extremely difficult to do, but that's why those threads are at the same time such an excellent place to try to train myself. And when someone is caddy, snide, condescending, or overt mean, I think that such a person is mainly saying something about himself.

 

thanks for the thoughtful response, anton. and while i agree with most of what you said, here's where we differ:

 

1.i just don't think "hate" should be at home on the forum. this site doesn't exist to train you or me in restraint.

 

2. there are many wonderful people here with whom i'd like to have more interaction, but the caddy, snide, condescending and mean discourse you reference makes me wince every time i think about opening a browser to visit and possibly interact. i'd like a different experience when i come here.
