It's already on video. I bought the DVD through Amazon. The film has its high spots and its low spots. If you thought Seth Numrich was sexy in Golden Boy, you'll want to see this - although it's clear that Numrich really muscled up for Golden Boy and this film was made before the muscling up process. Basically, the idea is that a version of Romeo & Juliet is played out among teenage boys at a military academy. The cast is good, but the premise is wierd. If you just go with it, however, it is entertaining.

Oh, zowie-wowie, BC, I've almost never been interested in Shakespeare, until I saw THIS! What a great way to spread Shakespeare to the "untutored" like me.

I'm going to have to see this somehow. Thanks for pointing it out.

I rented this movie from Netflix at least a year ago. I didn't like it at all. Uwsman is very generous in calling it "weird." The Shakespeare aspect is beyond pretentious, and adds nothing to the movie. It is also very dark -- literally -- and somewhat confusing. I probably had seen this in the TLA catalog; I never buy these movies, as most of them are awful, but I'll spend $1 to rent on Netflix. I don't recommend this at all.

If you want to see a lusty "Romeo and Juliet," rent Zefirelli's movie of about 15 (?) years ago with Leonard Whiting.

I saw it some months back via netflix. At the time I truly enjoyed what was presented. Unfortunately, I can't remember specifics right now.

Agree! (But would you believe -- released in 1968?)

Freshman year in college I saw this film "out" (to my eyes anyway) a self-identified straight dorm mate, who just couldn't stop talking about the movie after he saw it. (This was 1977.) He kept going on about how beautiful Olivia Hussey was as Juliet, but somehow it was obvious to me that he was bearding himself with her while Whiting was his main flame. Few years later he came out.

In any event, gorgeous production & gorgeous actors.
