On A Serious Note

 

In my family- my Mother was the more dominant parent. My Dad was more distant. But when I say both of those things it's not in the soul destroying way TV and movies depict it. It just was. My Mom had a stronger personality and my Dad traveled 3 to 4 days a week. He had to it was his job. Now he didnt travel as much when my older siblings were 1st born- and neither of them are gay. I'm not say my family structure 'made me gay'- but I'm betting that in someone who had a greater than average potential to be gay- this kind of family structure might have contributed. So maybe there is some truth to the old stereotype. On the other hand- correlation does not imply causation. Maybe at some level my gayness was apparent and that made my Mom become closer to me and my Dad more distant. But distant or not I never doubted my Dad's love for me.
