JPG v PNG

What is the difference in the photo file formats JPG and PNG? Does it matter which one chooses to use? Thanks.

If your looking for ease of manipulating an image, as in resizing etc., the jpg format is better. Picture quality can be better in jpg, too. However, for most uses such as cutting and pasting, sending and posting, I've found no practical difference.
