Had to put my nearly 17 year old dog to sleep earlier this week. Can't seem to escape the thoughts about the process. He may have been able to last days or weeks but kidneys were failing. Still so sad and blaming myself.

Sorry to hear that dfw2sfo, and although 17 years for a dog is an excellent age (long-lasting) it never comes at the right time and making a decision like that was better for the dog, though we are all human beings and would stick to the ones we love till the end. In this case you had to make the decision when that end is going to be and I know how difficult that can be. I love all animals but I am particularly a big dog fan and they are part of the family to me.

All I can do now is to support an animal shelter to do some good because that's all I can contribute now. Having a pet is a big responsibility and since I travel a lot I would not be able to properly take care of another life.

My condolences to you.... I know how down you can be now, but time will cure everything!

Best Regards!
