Anyone give any tips for a newbie hitting the LA scene next weekend?

Like a masc hangout crowd, up to and including The Eagle in NYC, but can't face sifting through the websites for recommendations since they all say how great they are!

Advice appreciated. Might need a 'spa' too...

There are many in LA...The real masc crowds, many are in Silver Lake area, and on the fringes of Hollywood. I don't do those bars, since it is too far from home.

For WEHO:

The Motherlode...nice local boys and a lot less WEHO attitude

Mickey's....Some nights other than 'Latino Nights' the crowd is more mature, and stay down stairs, the bar upstairs draws a younger crowd.

Eleven and Revolver all have a more mature crowds early on, but 'very West Hollywood' with money... nice people, but they have money and know it.

Fubar in West Hollywood has a very masc crowd..probably the best. I don't go often as it is a bit far from my route home, but I would call and ask what nights are best. The times I have been the crowd is very hot and steamy, but you have to hit those nights when they have "themes" when it is packed, the most fun of all.

Trunks...nice local crowd, all WEHO boys, but no BS or attitude. Nice range in age from young to older and pool most every night.

In the end I would check out Silver Lake area, there are some leather bars and the infamous MJ's..very masc with a nice mix of leather and masc.

LA is best on the weekends...Friday happy hour or later and of course Saturday night...have fun.

Hey, thanks a lot. I'll e sure to check these places out. Trunks sounds fun.

The Heart of West Hollywood is literally a few blocks long. You can start at the Abbey or Mother lode and then cross SM blvd and start walking. You will pass Rage, the Cantina, Mickey's, Revolver, Eleven, then Trunks. Fubar is a car ride, but only about a mile or so on SM blvd on the right hand side, just past Crescent Heights blvd....

Silver Lake is an entirely different area and the bars there are not within walking distance of each other. On the weekends the area is safe, but as in any metropolitan area, where there are less crowds, you need to be more aware of your surroundings...as some of the areas are not well lit...DO NOT misinterpret what I am saying, I am not saying it is unsafe, I love Silver Lake, it is just that unlike WEHO that is wall to wall people on the street, silver Lake is not like that. Have fun.

You did mention the need of a 'Spa' ....What kind? legit or more like a bathhouse or a sex club?

Great advice. Not been in forever and never really made it out last time I was there as I was on a layover to Hawai'i. Thanks a lot. Sounds like it could be a great weekend.
