Thinking about visiting Montreal over 4th for couple of days. Any recommendation on gay lodging

near the "gay" scene (bars, clubs) in Montreal? Thanks.. Rocky

I've been going to Montreal for years. While there are a number of B&B's in the Village (I've tried a couple), I have not found any one that I particularly like. I was there last weekend and stayed at the Hotel Gouverneuor http://www.gouverneur.com/en/hotel/placedupuis. It is a full service hotel, very nice, right at the very beginning of the village. Just a few blocks to Campus, Stock and everything that Ste. Catherine Street has to offer.

Another vote here for Hotel Gouverneur...everything that Poppie says is right on the money. An easy walk to Stock and Campus, and the staff is very supportive. Try and get a room that overlooks the park, and the Downtown area, at night with the lights, it is most extraordinary.

In my opinion, stay away from the Gay B&B's on or near Ste. Catherine's..Over the years I have tried several, most are sub-standard, and not worth the trouble.

Another vote for the Gouverneur. Among other things, the grocery store in the attached mall makes it so easy to stock up on beverages & snacks, and the airport shuttle stops very close.

Another vote for the Gouverneur. My partner and I have been staying there for many years. Maybe not as fancy as some downtown hotels but very close to the village. We have never had a problem with "take home" from the bars. Do get a room overlooking the park as bigvalboy said the view at night is nice.

P.S. the Gouverneur rate comes with Continental breakfast and its quite good. I believe you can pay extra for the full buffet breakfast but having to watch our cholesterol we are fine with cereal, fruit and maybe toast.

Everyone has been so helpful and thanks for overwhelming vote. I have stayed at a couple B&B's

in Montreal and while OK as mentioned nothing overwhelming. I've made up my mind, thanks all.

I will stay at this place called Studio Living http://studioliving.ca/en/ in a couple of weeks. It's like a B&B except it is individual apartments. The owner is easy to deal with over email.

Several years ago I stayed at this place called the Sir Montcalm http://www.sirmontcalm.com/en/ when he was still working on converting the houses into individual rooms. But I stayed in the unit that is the whole first floor of one house. Beautifully done. Again it was good hospitality.
