I've seen lots of footage of the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, which seems to have been a very big affair in Britain. I haven't seen or heard of any goings-on in her other realms, such as Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Were there big celebrations there, also? It always struck me as curious that for a monarch with so many realms around the globe, how infrequently she leaves Britain...

Oh hon, I've been to MANY Queens jubilee's, and WE celebrate in the Old Fashioned way: we don our boas and sparkly come fuck me pumps, Tease each others hair up REAL big, and spray it to Death, and then join voices in a rousing edition of "I will survive" and "Its raining men" ! :D

Let's believe your questions were posed in a serious mode:

The Queen sent her grandson Prince Harry to various Commonwealth countries in the Caribbean and other nations in South America to celebrate the monarchy's Diamond Jubilee. I suspect, but don't know, that celebrations were also held in

Australia, Canada, and many of the African Commonwealth nations and former British colonial nations, such as India.

As far as the Queen's frequency in leaving Britain: as she ages, and she is now 86 years old, I believe her State visits have become fewer. I just watched a two-hour programme on "The Monarchy at Work" on PBS which was filmed partly during her State visit to the USA in 2007 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. Watching that and seeing how much work has to go into to such a visit, how tiring it must have been for Her Majesty---and for those who don't think she does anything---imagine having every public move you make scrutinized beyond understanding---not just for one five day visit, but for 60 years and perhaps it makes sense that she is cutting back. There are many who have no regard for Queen Elizabeth II and never will, and I shall not try to convince them otherwise but I can think of few people in my lifetime who have spent 60 years in service to their country with so few missteps.

God Save the Queen. (From an unabashed Anglophile)

I was in Canada about a month ago and it was a week or so before the Diamond Jubilee and Charles and Camilla were there to mark the event. The Prime Minister made the Prince the Honorary Commissioner of the world famous Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and high Government Officials (including the Prince, Prime Minister etc.) gave out special Diamond Jubilee Medals to deserving Canadians etc. Much was made of it in the papers etc. and they were announcing full live coverage of all the Jubilee events and there was an official meal at Canada House in London, and their Governor General and Prime Minister and their wives and some senior cabinet mininsters attended the events in London too.

There was probably other stuff, but this all I remember from what I saw on T.V. and read in their newspapers.
