NO Steven - your just a hunk with a wonderful trace of an intoxicating accent !!! And the whole package just improves with age (oh ya and leather - LOL !)

As has been mentioned here, it's not the pitch of the voice (usually) but rather the inflection and the overly dramatic flair that makes a guy sound gay. Tenors don't have to worry - their high voices won't give them away. Like many things in life, it's more dependent on what you do with what you have.

And I really don't care...

Yes... and no. At age 13 my mother bought a reel-to-reel tape recorder, and had me try it. What I heard played back horrified me. The most flaming voice you ever heard, with all the stereotypical gay intonations. I ran crying into my bedroom, and wouldn't talk to anyone for 3 days. And screamed myself hoarse, hoping to butch my voice. I trained myself to have a flat, unemotional sound, and I kept that during my time in the Army. But when I came out of the military at 48, I relaxed about my voice and spent more time with other gay guys. And I even tried doing a campy parody for laughs, impersonating some of my best gay friends.

Today my voice can sound pretty gay, especially when I get excited about something, with far too much intonation. And I really don't care. :)

I didn't like hearing myself on tape at age 13, but I'm not sure I knew what a 'gay' voice sounded like at that age.

Often I've been asked by first-time clients and occasional hook-ups whether I'm straight.

Can't one be masculine and gay? Or it goes against the stereotype?

Steven- I don't think anyone who has ever met you-even casually-has any doubts whatsoever that you are a masculine guy.

I hate when I've been asked the question: "Are you straight?"

What does make you straight or gay? And for the record I'm not straight! :)

LOL I have been asked in a gay bar b4 if I was straight. We had this small bar in Athens ga near uga. First few times I went there I got asked that. Are you straight and here with your girlfriend? Are you straight and just here with some gay guys you know from uga? They had drag shows on Saturday night and this drag queen comes up to me and says i just wanted to say hello seen you here a few times with my friend Robert are you a co worker of his or one of his straight friends. I said friends yes but I'm not straight. He said oh you are gay. Well honey you would never guess it and that's a good thing.. I was left wondering why is being thought of as straight a good thing?

Those flaming crazy boys can be FUN !!!

I am going to come to the defense of those squealing, silly, raving 'sissy' type boys ... many of them (at least the ones I have met that were escorting) were downright adorable and hung ... in the late 90's (business required me being in London monthly for just over a year) I was on a twink boy 'kick' and was just loving all these 20something English 'punky' boys with multi-coloured and crazy hair, terrific over-the-top wardrobes and their lanky little waists or as I referred to it... their whippet ribs'n'nuts bodies ... adorable boys ... all of them ... I saw 3 or 4 at least half a dozen times ... and it all started because the kid that showed up one night at my hotel room was not at all like his photo in his magazine print ad (turned out the pic was from his first year at Uni about 3 years earlier - his small town English country roots were long gone) but he had terrific energy - I was not expecting much from such a crazy high-energy kid but he turned out being hung like a donkey and was sexually insatiable - I mean this kid was a SEX machine and I loved it !!! Totally uninhibited and just in to the SEX !!!

I confess to some very memorable sex with guys many of you would probably find odd, perhaps never consider or perhaps even a bit intimidating because they seemed excessively gay - conversely the funny thing being I am not sure they would want to be seen in the places they hang with me either - yet at days end ... their is NO denying GREAT sex behind the locked hotel room doors and many of those boys are genuinely into THE SEX !!!

As well - reflecting back - I can't be the only geeky guy who in his late 20's (I am talking the 80's here) who wandered through Bloomies, Barneys, Saks or Neimans with a 'woody' drooling over the perfectly manicured and quaffed gorgeous male perfume spritzers who were all plucked within an inch of their smiles and were shilling, shrilling and hooking the latest product ... only to my utter delight a few years later ... did I find more than a few eager to enjoy a cocktail at Rounds at days end and then my hotel room after that ... AHHHH ... memories !!!

The moral of the story as you all know ... DON'T JUDGE a book by it's cover !!!

bootdad, you make some very good points. While I'm not usually sexually attracted to "those squealing, silly, raving 'sissy' type boys..," I do find most of them are very fun to hang-out with and the are often the life of the party!
