I've notice a tendency towards "Who do I like better, Dad or Son?" in modern media.

Two examples:

Terra Nova, new series this year. Dad [Jason O'Mara] is hot, well built, cute ... Son [Landon Liboiron] is sultry and hot. Interestingly, there was a scene where the Son is splashing in water with his girl friend. She's in a two-piece suit. He's in jeans / shirt / hoodie. What in hell is he trying to hide? The kid is built.

Movie: The day after tomorrow (2004) (The year before Brokeback Mountain)

Dennis Quaid, Dad. Jake Gyllenhaal, Son. Which one, which one?

I think SMALLVILLE might fall into this category, but I'm not sure, was never much of a fan.

If we're talking "Daddy" and "Son", nothing beats Stargate: SG-1 for Richard Dean Anderson as "Colonel Jack O'Neil" and Michael Shanks as "Dr. Daniel Jackson". Woof!

So: Is this a trend? Am I just nuts for enjoying these kinds of pairs?

Of course with Stargate SG-1, You also have the dynamic of General Hammond/Jack O'Neill. Especially in the first couple of seasons. Hmmm.... Sounds like a good porn story...
