Albeit a few years old - This type humor still represents the comfort level of way too many people, still, living in our society today. Sure, we're good for some tee-vee sitcom laughs and some giant ratings revenues, but the comfort level and mentality of main-stream America is still stuck on "wrong" when it comes to normality and acceptance of who we really are as a people. Just look around your very own personal lives. I'm sure you'll see it, because often times, it's what prevents you from living in the moment of which you might be in with another.

 

Sure, there have been many strides made with seemingly positive results for us, but a cursory look at teen-age suicide and acceptance in this country reflects yet another story.

 

Until our very own, young gay youth, grow up in a society where homosexuality is viewed as just a difference, without indifference; we should accept these very superficial forms of heterosexual comedic connection, outreach and acceptance of us all, with a grain of hesitancy, pause, rejection and reflection.

 

Stone me once, shame on you. Stone me twice with humor disguised for your ratings, shame on us all.

I'd also just like to say that I personally celebrate anyone who comes to personal terms and identity with whomever they might really be, or even might have become through a long process and journey of denial OR personal realization.

 

With that said, it will always be different for all of you than it ever was for those who were themselves to begin with.

 

I suspect that it's probably like anything else - but when you've been a part of a certain culture & population on the planet all of your life and have been effected by all of which that entails from every other prospective and voice on that planet- sometimes it's difficult to completely embrace the sudden drop-ins who are now wanting inclusion when they never fully paid that price to begin with. And sometimes, they were the very voice which damned you in the first place.

 

I'm not talking about Lee here, I'm just saying, it's never easy to be right when you don't know what right really is to begin with.

I've always liked this video. It is amusing and there ARE places in this country where people are just that disinterested in whether or not you and your friend are a gay couple, a bromance, or just two guy friends. Unfortunately, this is not the case for most of America yet but I don't think the video makes light of that fact. I've always been a little disconcerted by how ummm, authentic their final coupling looks though. Well, turned on and disconcerted which is rather conflicting.
