Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I recently stumbled on backpage and their male escort site.

 

They have some stunning men on there even in the Philly area which is like a black hole for escorts.

 

Has anyone ever used backpage and if so what was the experience like?

 

Kinda seems like a better version of Craigslist.

In my area of NC, it seems to be used mostly by guys traveling through (often available only for a day or 2). For that reason, I've never hired anyone from it. The demographics are also interesting. Unlike the other sites, it features mostly black guys, and they seem to prefer to project the thug persona. I'm curious as to whether you see the same thing in your area.

As Craigslist was, Backpage is getting some heat for keeping the "escort" section open. Sooner or later it will be gone also, IMHO. I have hired twice off of there, with a great and not so great result. The not so great result was my fault, I didn't ask enough questions.. At least in my area the ads are all amateurs, with no reviews, so I have to be smart before I hire. Be smart, ask questions, be explicit about what you want and you might just find what your looking for

The same holds true for St. Louis, young, black, and also promoting the "thug" image. Most are visiting, or so they say. I've spanked some black guys, so race is not the issue, but these ads just make me uncomfortable, and I'll take a pass.

Or you might get the dial tone as many of the calls from back-page are always 'explicit and detailed' and then they half ass show up to the appointment. Occasionally it works out, most times it doesn't.

 

I put an ad up while I was out of town couple weeks ago on back-page, just in case. I got appointments from rent boy, m4rent, even Adam of all places (which has actually gotten better than back page). I got 1 persistent wanker from back-page, but no appointment. It was more of an annoyance than anything else.

 

As for the 'mostly thug Black guys' on there, that's dependent on your area. Go to Austin or Seattle and it's mostly amateur White and Latino guys. Not to mention, half of the guys on backpage are supposedly straight. Add in the fact of $2-$5 to advertise with reposts every few days, it's a relatively cheap way for newbies to get some exposure.

In L.A. it is mostly the 'thug' type black guys also, usually very inacttractive or at the very least you could say not my type. Would never waste my money or take a chance on that. Too many really nice and great escorts that are legit.

I live in South Jersey so I can examine the ads for the Atlantic City area and the Philly area since both are close to me.

 

The Atlantic City area is nothing but thugs and "unattractive" peoppe (had to get that in there bigvalboy) and people I would never spend a dime on.

 

The ads for Philly are very different and there are some real hotties on there...so I may just take the plunge and try one. Hey, I have hired some of the best of the best from this site and some of the most dreadful...also from this site..so who know?

Yeah, Shoreboy, I've scoped out the ads in Backpage in Philly and I agree - there are some hotties there I've been tempted, but I'm in kind of a hiring hiatus right now - just don't see the point and can't work up any enthusiasm for it. I like new words, but generally find them "slang" until they make it into the Oxford English Dictions (OED).

Backpage produces clients that are straight couples, straight women and male first timers. It is not a place to find high end, upscale male clients. It also caters to fetishes and way out there type fantasies.

I put a massage ad on there once and took it down 2 days later. only calls I got were guys wanting me to massage their wives while they watch or assist. I don't take couples nor need any assistant... or Id get guys with way out there over the top expectations like wanting full service from a 75.00 massage. Then would act all shocked and disbelieving when I told them what escorts charge compared to what a massage therapist charges. I turned everyone that called away. imo backpage is no different than craiglist. mostly discount shoppers looking and expecting any and everything and looking for fire sale prices

judgmental much? It's simply another outlet of advertising. It's only $2 or so a week. If I can spend that and turn it into something more, than I'm happy. I'm not obligated to take any of the calls or emails that derive from there, even though I only pay attention to it when it's time to renew the ad. I don't get angry because I never expect much from it anyway.

 

However, once when I was out of town I met a guy from backpage who I swore looked like Bradley Cooper. At the time, I immediately realized he looked familiar and I kept looking at him but couldn't figure out what the guy's name was so I didn't say it. It wasn't until I seen a movie on TV that I realized it. His eyes were just like his, the guy was gorgeous. So everytime I see a movie with Bradley Cooper in it, I think about him LOL.

Damn, so much venom directed at the bargain bin of the market! A bunch of high-falutin' escort "purists", trashing a common enemy... yegads, a listing service for commoners, fuck that!!

 

I track Backpage for LA and several other cities - they have one link for all of Arizona, Nevada and some other less escort populated states. Los Angeles has decent daily ad volume and the ads also list older entries placed by the same ad purchaser so I can easily spot the "agency" ads, and those escorts who have tranny GFs also in the biz (for what it's worth). The quality guys I look for often only place an ad every once in a while, maybe to fill up their schedule, those who advertise daily may be trying a little too hard.

 

I've met several great semi-pro and non-pro men who grew tired of all the m4m flagging bullshit on Craigslist. Far from just "thugs" and "uglies" there are some quality guys to be found there. Unfortunately I have to dodge some "hetero" escorts trying to score "sexy ladies" to pay for their services (wonder how that works out for them...?) but all-in-all it's a keeper for me, 2nd in my list of top escort search sites. You money-out-the-ass sticklers can keep with your $300/hr prettyboys on rentboy and leave the value conscious "guy next door" market to us working stiffs.

not judging it or trashing it at all. I have advertised there on occasion. It is however full of low class providers and low class clients (by low class I mean dirty , no bath in a week types) so it involves alot of time and effort to weed through the bad to get to the good ones. Backpage is definitely thug-worthy over here in LA. On top of that, all the cute white guys are only advertising for women, which sucks.
