The Times-Picayune newspaper has reported that an escort hired at the Corner Pocket bar in New Orleans was killed by his customer when a dispute arose regarding the amount of the escort's fee. Below are links to the article and to the Corner Pocket's website:

The Corner Pocket has been mentioned a few times on male4malescorts.com. It is a stripper bar in New Orleans where the dancers are very friendly. There are few limits on interactions between the customers and the dancers, or at least there have been few restrictions in the past. It will be interesting to see how this incident affects the bar and whether the police raid it in a few months.

In case the article disappears from the Times-Picayune website, I am pasting it below.

Sex-for-hire escapade ends with death along highway

Chalmette RN accused of killing man he met in French Quarter 10/11/02

In a lurid tale of sex and violence, a Chalmette registered nurse was booked with second-degree murder Thursday in the killing of a man who police said the nurse paid $100 to have sex with him and his wife.

John A. Lund Jr., 30, 2332 Marietta Drive, Chalmette, is being held in St. Bernard Parish Prison and will go before a judge today to have bond set. Lund is a former nurse at Chalmette Medical Center and Lifecare Hospital in Chalmette, who told police he is now working at Charity Hospital.

Jonathan D. England, 25, 911 St. Peter St., Apt. 1, New Orleans, a native of Georgia, was shot three times and died at Charity Hospital.

It was the third homicide of the year in St. Bernard Parish.

Sheriff's officials said England was shot in the head, chest and a hand and that the shooting took place about 3:30 a.m. on the side of East St. Bernard Highway in Meraux, several blocks past Archbishop Hannan Boulevard. Lund called authorities on a cell phone, claiming he had discovered England injured along the roadway while he was driving, according to Capt. Marcel David, head of the sheriff's detective bureau. Lund was giving the victim first aid when an ambulance arrived, David said.

Lund's account of what happened "didn't coincide with the crime scene," and he was quickly the suspect in the killing, David said. During an interview with police, "he confessed to shooting him," David said.

David said a .357-caliber Magnum was recovered from Lund's truck.

Lund eventually told investigators he met England in a French Quarter bar, The Corner Pocket, Wednesday night.

"They made an agreement for Lund to pay him $100 to come home and have sex with Lund and Lund's wife," said David, identifying the wife as Catherine Lund, 35, who wasn't arrested. "We located someone at the bar who saw the victim leave with Lund."

He said police weren't able to check England's clothing before he went to Charity Hospital to see if he had the $100. But, David said, police don't have any reason to doubt that part of Lund's story.

David said Lund and his wife acknowledged that England had sex with the wife but then felt ill and wanted to be taken back to the French Quarter.

David said Lund told his wife he was taking a handgun with him for the trip back because he didn't trust England, who David said had convictions in Georgia for armed robbery and other charges and was currently wanted there as a parole violator.

But instead of heading west toward New Orleans from his home, Lund drove England eastward toward Meraux, where the shooting took place, David said. He said Lund didn't tell investigators why he didn't take England back to New Orleans.

Lund told detectives he and England got into an argument in the truck because England wanted more money and allegedly threatened to go back to Lund's home and kill Lund and his wife, David said.

England never regained consciousness, and police don't know if he threatened Lund, David said. "But you can't just use deadly force on someone because they said they were going to kill you," he said.

In his statement, Lund "made no mention of any physical confrontation" in which England may have tried to get the gun, David said.

Lund told investigators he ordered England out of the truck but didn't "have a reasonable account" of why he, too, got out of the truck, David said.

David said Lund shot England twice, in the chest and in the hand, on the north side of East St. Bernard Highway. Then, after England stumbled across the street, Lund shot him a third time, to the head.

Police found blood on both sides of the highway, as well as splatters in the street, David said.

"After he shoots the guy, (Lund) gets in truck to leave, drives a short distance, then turns around, comes back" and starts giving the victim first aid and calls authorities, David said.

The killing forced St. Bernard authorities to close parts of St. Bernard Highway during the morning rush hour.
