I figured the title would get your attention based on some of the threads today...In cleaning my bedroom this weekend I realized that there are quite a few semen stains on my wood floor. This is not surprising given that I like to play on the floor and often things get a little out of hand (though to be honest, lately things are staying entirely too much in hand...). I've tried most of the standard wood cleaners and polishers and also some ideas that I saw from a quick Google. No luck. Just thought I would post here for suggestions before I sanded and restained the affected areas.

Spot refinishing of wooden floors (and this is true of just about any type of floor) is extremely difficult to do and the results, more often than not, are disappointing. Try Murphy's Oil Soap--following directions on the container and cleaning the entire floor multiple times (to avoid discoloration in one area and keeping the appearance uniform). This is lots of work and takes time and elbow grease, but is the best method I know of--short of sanding down the floor and refinishing it. Of course, you can always "cover-up" with a nice area rug!!!!!

Electra is "spot on." Unfortunately if my experience with pet stains is any indication, I can’t hold out much promise for you. Murphy’s will help with the overall appearance of the floor, but the discoloration will still be there. Trying to re-stain a small area doesn’t do much because there’s no way I found to make the stain blend unnoticeably with the rest of the floor. I opted for an area rug rather than go through the mess of redoing the whole floor (and it is a mess).
