Sorry, for a dose of "hon" you gotta get up to Bal'more! Not in DC, hon!

As for dive breakfasts:

- Long running breakfast stall inside of the Eastern Market building (weekend only);

- Divy diner Trio's at the corner of 17th & Q NW (they did redecorate a bit a few years ago);

- Annie's Paramount Steakhouse does breakfast and all other meals 24 hours a day all weekend.

As for walking:

- SE side of Capital Hill is one of the oldest and most charming neighborhoods in DC. You can have breakfast at Eastern Market (see above) ad walk it off after! Be sure to walk down East Capital Street - grandest street on the Hill;

- Walk up Massachusetts Avenue NW - starting from Dupont Circle and all the way up to the National Cathedral Not only will you see a multitude of embassy buildings, if you veer of the main street you will also get to see some incredible houses of the rich and powerful of Washington (Hillary's house is up there somewhere).

Your grace -- you have received some truly excellent suggestions. One I would like to second is KMEM's recommendaiton of the Udvar-Hazy branch of the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles. Perhaps do an afternoon visit there and take in a show at Wolf Trap Farm Park, not too far away. Bring a picnic and sit on the lawn. Cheap and some very interesting shows.

For me, the Vietnam memorial is a must. As others have suggested, hanging around Dupont is always fun, and especially a visit to Annie's. They did a great job for us when I put together the lunch.

But as far as entertainment, I would definitely concur with DD's recommendation: Dave (Rockin). He is as good as they come and I can't recommend him highly enough.

The problem with DC will be whittling your list down to a managable 50-100 things to do in 4 days. The possibilities are virtually limitless.

Sorry if someone already recommended it, but DON'T miss the last museum they opened in DC, The NEWSEUM. It's a bit expensive (around 20ish bucks) but really worthy.

And when you see the Lincoln, Korea and Vietnam Memorials, just cross the Potomac and go to the Arlington Cemetery and eventually the Iwo Jima Memorial!

Thanks guys for all your suggestions! I, too, will be traveling to DC for a long weekend at the very beginning of June, so I will take into consideration many of your ideas. I will be down there to attend two performances of Follies at the Kennedy Center. What are the top hot spot restaurants in DC right now? Any other gay bars, aside from Secrets?

Just got back from a dinner tonight at Bistro Doc in downtown directly across from Ford's Theater. Highly recommend this place, locals mostly and not an expense account restaurant which is common in that area near Verizon Center. Great little French bistro and family owned. http://www.bistrodoc.com/home.html
