Is anyone here interested in "research" on rentboys? Something new...

A week or two ago, I posted a new research article about

rentboys. Several rentboys really liked it; one reader (I assume

a client) called it crapola, and one reason he left the academic

scene.

 

Well, here's another new article about rentboys & violence.

 

Is new research like this of interest to readers here?

Now let's be fair bcohen -- You are mischaracterizing what gp0560 said. I remember it very well. What he was talking about was the dreadful, horrible, stuffy, miserable excuse of the language that the author used in his paper to which Jerry was referring. He specifically said he was going to leave the commenting on the content of the article to others (which he did). But the crapola he referred to was the academian-speak of the article. And the academian-ese is why Jerry was glad he left academia.

The research interests me. When I went to the site, though, I got a very brief abstract and a link to pay to read the paper. Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, much of this "research" is based on self report. There is almost no way to get objective confirmation of behavior of escorts or their clients. While interesting to read, I am very skeptical of this type of "research" and having been in academia and done psychological research myself in years past, I take most of these kinds of "research articles" with a grain, make that several grains of salt.

The entire article opened for me in Adobe Acrobat, but I believe this likely a violation of copyright - the journal requires a subscription and generally sharing is not permitted unless the license terms specifcally allow it.
