I have seen Color Purple and Steel Magnolias many many times along with Its My Party, which makes me cry everytime I watch it. I am not much of a horror film kinda guy. I had a roommate that loved them so I would do see them with him, but they werent my first choice. Do you have a favorite series in the horror genre?

I like the saw franchise

I decided to add my two cents worth... The Kings Speech and Colin Firth should win the Oscar for his performance. I loved the three swedish movies based on the Steig Larsson Trilogy, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's nest. The first will be remade Hollywood style with Daniel Craig in the lead, but the movies made in Sweden with English Subtitles will be hard to beat. I can't imagine Daniel Craig in this series. The Black Swan, The Tudor series on TV, and am now just watching Spartacus (the series), not much of a plot, but magnificient men sometimes entirely nude! The Social Network was very well done, but I probably won't see the remake of True Grit, as it would be hard to top John Wayne in the original. I also love the Harry Potter series, but sorry that Part II is being delayed a year, as the filming and editing is already complete and it would make so much more sense to release it now. I enjoyed the books very much, and it is better to read the books before seeing the movies, as is the case with Steig Larsson's Trilogy. There is allegedly a fourth book that he completed before his untimely death, but his relatives and girl friend are fighting over the rights! Go figure...

Tron Legacy is really well worth watching in 3D or the IMAX 3D experience

Actually for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, the release date for movie theatres is sometime around July 2011. This is very much the same approach time frame wise as with Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolution which were released a couple of months apart back in 2003. With this sort of approach the movie going audience wont get too fatigued and the movie studio can see their profits maximized at the box office. As for True Grit, I've seen the 1969 version in which John Wayne starred in won his only Oscar, and it's a brilliant film. However the current version of True Grit that stars Jeff Bridges is remarkably well done and the Cohen Brothers did a fanastic job in putting their version together. For Jeff Bridges, his performance deserves to be recognised for an Oscar nod. He already earned one for Crazy Heart, but his role in True Grit is equally as good and one of his finest performances since the Big Lebowski. As for Colin Firth, he did a great job in the King's Speech and deserves an academy award nomination. For me the same applies with Michael Caine for his portrayal in Harry Brown as it's his best performance since the Quiet American

Great points, and True grit is not a re-make apparently. I saw several interviews with Jeff Bridges who would not agree do a re-make. This movie is more true to the book and from the perspective of the girl. The John Wayne movie was loosely based upon elements of the book, but Bridges has said that this is a totally different movie and that he would have not done it (even with Cohen Bros.) if it had not been. I have always enjoyed Bridges and his movies. I think he is one of our great actors of today.

Well, I did see True Grit and it wasnt too bad of a movie. I didnt see the orginal and the only reason I went to see it is that there was anything else my dad wanted to see Christmas afternoon. I didnt it was too bad.

BTW, I saw Strapped (kind of on Daddy's recommendation from "This is just a Test" thread) and it was good, lacking in plot, but made up for it in soft core entertainment... ;-)
