Ellen Degeneres at the Emmy?

Could someone tell me what Ellen's point was at the Emmy last night? What was her point for chattering irrelevant stuff to the point that she was cut-off by the taped announcement of the nominees?

I probably shouldn't comment here as I can't remember what she was talking about BUT....I realized that when it happened (her being cut off),it was actually making the point...that (I think) involved people who went on and on and on and on.....OK?

Whether it makes sense or not, you're exactly right. It is her brand of humor by attempting ot indicate how banal these kinds of situations (award shows) are. It's social commentary, and either you like it or don't. I liked it.

It was a joke. She opened by saying that they told her that she had 30 seconds and should just "do her thing" and she replied that her "thing" takes longer than 30 seconds but she would try. Then she went into one of her typical wandering observations and got (intentionally) cut off. I thought it was VERY funny.
