The Secretary

We saw “The Secretary” with James Spader. It had really raw power, and pulled no punches in favor of political correctness. When James hits her, he bruises her, and at one point he bent her over, pulled down her pants, and jacked off on her ass while the audience watched. More importantly, and a point I think was lost on my boyfriend, was the portrayal of true Sadism and Masochism as played by actual FULL TIME practioners: bits of seemingly mundane tasks-make the bed, buy the milk-that in fact have very raw power over both the commander and the slave who meticulously fulfills those orders. Raw because the doer eroticises the task, simply by doing it (as the master does in giving it). The likely punishment if he gets it wrong, is more background noise than anything else. At least this what I learned from reading Ethan Mordden and in my Instant Message chats with NHmaster. In the Secretary there's certainly cliche' Black Leather ala “Drummer” and Titan-like order barking, she seems to need that more than him. They're both equally inspired by simple erotic task fulfillment. Hot film, well shot, GREAT colors. Enjoy.
