No one has mentioned the recent seasons of Project Runway or Top Chef Just Desserts.

Has anyone noticed all the bitchness that has been going on against Michael C on Project Runway? Man, those gals, and guys, have been acting like the catty and bitchy in a high school group. I couldn't believe it when Amy actually accused Michael C of cheating AFTER she had been dumped from the show! Mondo finally got his HIV+ status off his chest and revealed it to the world, which was a very touching TV moment. This week is Part One of the finale episode.

On Top Chef Just Desserts, the drama ran high for a few episodes as contestant Seth had numerous breakdowns and wound up alienating all of his fellow contestants. It was truly riveting to watch this guy fall apart. He wound up running out of the studio and had a panic attack after which the producers felt he was not "well enough" to continue. Of note on this show is the 29 year old cutie chef Yigit, a Turkish born, piece of dessert that I would love to lick the icing off of! He is gorgeous!

Joseph, you can watch pretty much all the past Runway eps on Lifetime's website, as they post each show the day after it airs.

Ed, it sure looks like people are ganging up on Michael Costello, but from the way I hear tell, over 75% of the contestants say he's putting on an act. I read an interview where Peach, arguably the most pleasant of all the contestants, had this to say about him:

"Michael Costello came onto the show, he even said this to us, because he wants his own reality show and he’s creating this character that you see. There were two sides of Michael Costello and one of them did not have the nicest language; not just curse words, subject matter too. I don’t know how to put it, but he is not the victim that they’re painting him to be."

You can read the rest of the interview on Tom and Lorenzo's blogsite, which has been an insider more inside information on Runway than anyone else, here:

The fact that Tom & Lorenzo are gay and write really funnily (they skewered Logo's laughable "The A-List" perfectly!) is a perfect reason to keep going back to that site.

I used to be a fan of Runway but have't seen it since the switch. Is the show as good as it was or is it getting tired?

LW: Thanks for pointing me to Tom and Lorenzo's blogsite. From the entry on A-list--" Ryan wants to mentor Austin and show him how to be self-important without actually having to do anything of importance." LMAO

I tried one show of Just Desserts -- Love the other TOp CHef stuff -- awful - the bitchyness is unwatchable --

I agree totally. I also love the other Top Chef series but this one just doesn't do it for me.

It's pretty annoying but I can't stop watching. There is something very titillating about Gail Simmons. I can totally see her as a dominatrix with a big single tail in her hand and three guys at her feet (I'd gladly be one of them). I liked Heather at first (the Asian Heather, not the other one that has the goiter on her forehead) until she started this team diva shit with those two prancing gay guys that both make me want to vomit. Then I was pulling for Erika but she got eliminated last night for making ice cream that tastes like glue (where is Raul when you need him). Morgan, the big self-proclaimed straight guy from Texas, is pretty hot though his fascination with women's shoes is a little odd.

I can't wait for Top Chef all stars.

My reality is more exciting.

I can't watch any of Bravo's "chef" shows because I can't taste the food and judge for myself. I also think these shows are poorly lit. It's like the lighting designer was given a budget that only covered the cost of fluorescent bulbs. Everyone looks dull and gray to me and only the still photographs of the food look OK. I'm also very tired of the reality show formula. Even with DVR, I find these personality-driven shows boring and a waste of life's time.

Project Runway is a bit unique in that the show features talent that one can actually see and almost feel. I'm tired of its formula, too, but with DVR, I can fast-forward through all the catty-chatty chit and only focus on the talent of the individuals. I enjoy the part where the judges discuss the best and the worst. Michael Kors is a face-maker and gayer than a goose but he can be really funny with his bitchy critiques. I think he has a lot of nerve being bitchy, though, because some of the things he designs for women, especially his lower-priced line, are truly ugly.

A lot of people don't know the truth behind reality TV and/or they're in denial. There is always someone who has a director credit, which means the show and the action is directed. The whole Michael C thing is planned well ahead of time. It's not scripted verbatim but these themes are guided and manipulated throughout the season. The real question is why would Ivy want to come off on TV like a super cunt? Does anyone truly believe that cunty behavior from an Asian woman is going to sell clothing?

For most of these contestants, 15 minutes of fame is enough to motivate them. Some of them manage to stretch it out longer. Most of them simply become reality show personalities that fade into oblivion. I can think of worse occupations but I have little admiration for 99% of these folk.

I think Mondo is very talented (too dark for my taste) but I fast-forwarded through most of his HIV drama. I have little patience for the soap-opera style manipulation of these shows and, therefore, I don't let them affect me emotionally.
