After the recent suicides of gay youth, a Mormon leader (Boyd K. Packer, next in line for Mormon presidency) made insensitive and cruel remarks during general conference.

The Human Right Campaign has a link to on its website (http://www.hrc.org) to ask for an apology. Please do so. You won't get spammed.

I am a former Mormon, and I can tell you, they are overly concerned about negative PR. This is the same group responsible for Prop 8. When I was a teenager, this same apostle, Packer, wrote a pamphlet in which he stated if a gay man went on a mission for the church, he would have a responsibiilty to hit him. It has since been taken out of circulation, but I remember his remarks about death being better than homosexuality.

I just followed-up with this on the HRC website. Hope others here will take a minute to do so as well. Thanks to Ca Robert for the "heads up" on this important issue.
