I find that movies come and go so quickly in the theatres these days I seldom catch them while they're current.

Plus there are so many great older pictures that I'm constantly finding something new to view in my well-stocked local video store in the gay village.

I'm including here a few trailers, hoping I will spark some interest in some great pictures.

Kinsey (2004): Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Chris O'Donnell

Superb story, well acted, and plenty interesting.

Wilde (1997): Stephen Fry, Jude Law, Vanessa Redgrave

Oscar Wilde's love for Lord Alfred ('Bosie') Douglas proves disastrous.

A beautiful story, well told. Stephen Fry is brilliant.

Normal (2003, HBO): Tom Wilkenson, Jessica Lange

An impactful love story.

Late in life, a man decides he's really a woman trapped in a man's body. [video=youtube;DdWur61dvqI]

Campy gay date movie. In 1950's Hollywood, movie star "Guy Stone" must marry a studio secretary in order to conceal his homosexuality.

Sordid Lives (2000)

Sordid Lives (2000): Olivia Newton John, Beau Bridges, Delta Burke, Leslie Jordan, Beth Grand, Bonnie Bedelia

"A black comedy about white trash."

As three generations of a family in a small Texas town gather for a funeral, we learn the hilarious, trashy truth of the "Sordid Lives."

Among the characters are:

-the gay grandson trying to find his identity in West Hollywood;

-the son who has spent the past twenty-three years dressed as Tammy Wynette;

-the jumpy trying-to-quit-smoking sister and her trying-to-lose-weight best friend;

-the lover who caused the death by leaving his wooden legs lying on the floor,

-and the two daughters--one strait-laced and one quite a bit looser.

Lots of fun.
