The recent thread about New York hotels lead me to find out from some as to what their experience has been there. Not to probe too much as finding out how much one made or did...but just a general idea of the market there.

Im not familiar with the northeast, except parts of Boston...but a friend of mine is returning to his hometown in New York and is adament about getting me up there soon, but am still trying to figure out if it'll be worth going out there to work. I mean, the New York market looks saturated, but for its size would make sense....

Any suggestions?

Lol well if you want client opinions as well. The answer is travelers seem to be able to do well. But we seem to be a rentboy market maybe more than any other so get your marketing out first. And if your skimping dont cut out rentboy like you might in other markets

Even before I moved here, NYC was my best work city. One can have a very profitable trip here, meet some great folk, and have lots of fun outside of work, too.

Tomcat is right: rentboy is the place to be. I'd suggest putting your ad up a few days in advance (being clear which day you actually get here and will be ready for appointments). I generally dislike the priceline model, but it seems to work well for finding a hotel here in Manhattan. (I'd recommend bidding on what they call the Central Park South, Chelsea, Empire State Building, Hell's Kitchen, Madison Square Garden, Midtown East, Midtown West or Times Square areas.)

As long as you're here, you may consider popping up to Boston or down to DC for a few days as well. Train or bus fare isn't terribly expensive between these cities, and each market seems to be eagerly accepting of new faces.

Best of luck on your trip!

Yeah, def. no scrimping of rentboy. Although, I havent used them in so long...but recently decided to pop an ad up just to see. For a moment I almost forgot they even existed...we just dont use it much out here LOL.

Thanks Kevin for the suggestion, too bad we couldn't swap homes this go LOL. And of course, Im most certain I can have fun outside of work. I've met enough guys in Florida from NY to know that it'd probably be heaven on earth for me up there LOL.

Oh well, guess I wont know until I just go. NY seems most diffcult from the outside.
