how to select a location for a porn movie

Sometimes i wonder how the adult industry get a location for a porn movie. Mostly the houses where the action must happen are not that brilliant in my opinion. Because i will move to NYC in August my own apartment will be empty most time of the year. I will come back to my hometown for just one week a month. Is it wise to offer my home as a place for a porn movie? If they will shot a scene on my rooftop terrace there will be an amazing view over the city and the old harbour. Also the interior of my apartment is very stylish and luxury (sorry for saying this). Will they pay for this and if so what kind of amount i'll get.

most porn is shot in CA. Michael Lucas is new york based. but the majority shoot in CA around San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.

i work in prague for the william higgins studio, the going rate over here is a few 100 us a day.

 

a normal crew is 2 video, 1 still, 2-4 models, the director, the girp/wardrobe/make-up/condom&lube person (my job)

 

the bathroom has to be used for enemas, we like to film pissing, and do you have a nice white sofa, its hard to get the stains off that!

lol yeah iv heard of some bad stuff happening. I saw chi chi larue in a interview once. He said once a model stuck his foot through a very expensive painting once. someone got skid marks on a silk sofa.. and yes the models do their enema's prior to shooting there in the homes bathroom.

Taking steps to ensure the security of the site is important. I have a friend who used to run an independent gay porn company in the NYC area. He had rented a small "mansion" in upstate New York to shoot a film with a rather large cast. They didn't take care to keep all the window shades and curtains drawn, and passersby on the street somehow could see in. The cops were called and the whole cast were arrested for indecent exposure for what was seen from the street!

Why limit to porn shoots? Have you considered that mainstream production companies also need such locations? An acquaintance makes a nice chunck of extra income on his place which either gets used for filming or crew/cast accommodations. There are brokers who specialize in managing these properties and surely there's several in NYC.

 

The legit film companies take great care to leave the place in good condition and contract provisions cover loss and damages. Of course they mostly seek unique locations with little furnishings. You could store some of your more valuable items. And make more than enough to cover that cost as well.

I was involved with a shoot once when I managed a health club and I was able to secure the entire club after hours for 2 nights. I was able to close the gym early at 11:00 so the crews could set up by mid-night but had to be completely out by 5:00 am so the gym could open at 5:30. I didn't want anyone to see film crews setting up in the massive showers. It took 2 nights - the first night was a walk thru and still shots and just a little action. The second night was all action and it was intense becuase of the time constraints. It takes longer than you think
