Right!

Now as for being kind… I am indeed a caring, considerate, sympathetic, and benevolent individual… But then again there are different ways of expressing kindness.

Oh there are and I have three new toys that express that kindness AND pleasure. Want to try them with me? :p Maybe some BP officials should take a crack or two on the back and see the benefits of expressing such kindness.

Absent landlord!

I recall hearing that in the past several years BP had over 700 safety violations while Exxon-Mobile had only several...

This is where I become frustrated... They did have 700 plus violations and that was in just one year with the 2nd highest offender only possessed a handful of VERY minor infractions resulting in piddly fines. Federal Laws and governance procedures are very much incompetent guidelines and grossly outdated. If you look at the fine structure alone that the Federal Government can impose at the maximum level, it's nothing compared to the damages caused/realized at a later date for long periods of time if not generations. Fines (IMHO) should be increased heavily and I wouldn't stop at applying a percentage based fee system on stated prior years earnings or a combined average of a specified number of years earnings, but that's just me.

Hopefully, this be a driving force ultimately strengthening efforts to break our oil dependence and move forward with alternate energy production and distribution. The scary part is, many byproducts are created from deep sea drilling so it's more than just altering our driving habits/consumption.

If I was President, I would have... FLOGGED someone by now for starters if not myself or BOTH!

What is really frustrating is that according to the Associated Press the Federal Government supposedly gave this rig some sort of safety award... and never inspected it properly!
