Sebastian Junger, the New York Times best selling author, followed a platoon based at a remote base in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan to deliver what soldiers go through and risks they take to fight and survive. He made five trips and the longest trip lasted a month.

From the book

" The men at one hot meal a day under a green Army tent and showered once a week in water that had been pumped out of a local creek. Here and there PVC pipe was struck into the ground at an angle for the men to urinate into."

Salute to soldiers who fight for our freedom everyday! It just encourages me to do something constructive everyday because there are people out there risking their life for me. It just gives me a different perspective on things.

Thanks for this post. I often forget about those whose lives are so different from mine as they strive to keep some semblance of order in the world.
