Going to Italy in two weeks with two days to myself in Rome, staying near the central Terminal. Does anyone have experience with escorts or bars?

There's an interesting thread in today's (Monday) NYTimes about how you can pretty much assume that phone calls in Italy are tapped. One target group specifically mentioned are people who hire escorts/masseuses. While the article was focused on straight sex, I'd imagine that guys hiring male escorts would be a prime target. The object is public exposure of straying bigwigs, but I imagine that all sorts are caught in the web...
