Will be in Galveston for two days, work, yes, but have some play time too.

Galveston

 

Galveston is a fun town, but it is just recovering from Hurricane Ike. Lots of touristy things to do (Bishop's Palace, Sea Wolf Park, The Strand, etc.). Some decent restaurants on/near The Strand and on the Seawall (Gaido's, etc.). As far as gay life, there really isn't any--the bars are extremely local and give casual a whole new depth of meaning. Gay life is in Houston (primarily Montrose for the bars). Houston is less than an hour away from Galveston (take I-45). No escorts on Galveston Island, but there are a number of excellent ones in Houston who will make the drive (if compensated for time and travel) or are able to host at their Houston location. For escorts, first take a look at the ones reviewed here at Daddy's and then take a look at RentBoy or, perhaps, Men4RentNow. A word of advice: if you decide on an escort, it is highly suggested that you meet with one of the local escorts as I find the quality is excellent (Ryan Richie, Adam Hunts, Alan Ladd, and Stephen come to mind).

Wow - thank you! I feel like I've already been there. I wish I could linger in Houston for a spell, unfortunately this is an in and out trip (save the puns). But in a few months I'll be hanging in San Antonio for a while so hopefully I'll get a chance to sample the local culture then.

I'm afraid that there is not much "local culture" in San Antonio, except for the tourist stuff (River Walk, museums, etc.). The food, if you like Tex-Mex is good. The better hotels are on the RiverWalk. Local talent in San Antonio is totally lacking, with the very definite exception of Benjamin Nicholas and Noah Driver (both hot and both excellent). Gay "life" if you want it, is up I-35 in Austin (decent excorts, especially my favorite: Corbin) and decent clubs with good restaurants.
