I think she is a very interesting and worthwhile choice to host "This Week". Not sure about her domestic news background but certainly very few can compete against her international experience. Seems like the women are starting to take over alot of the key news anchor slots.

New adventures!

Awww! Her last day will be very unfortunate for CNN as she has really become a true international reporter over the last 10 years. If my memory serves me correctly, I first started to see her on CNN during the first Gulf War which really seemed to boost her into stardom.

I wish her well but I'm not switching over to ABC for my news coverage. ;)

Smart Choice

After 9/11, there was a brief flurry of purported media commitments to better informing Americans of the world in which we live. Right. Foreign bureaus have closed, funding has been cut, and time devoted to foreign news has declined. Serious reporting has declined in favor of transitory blather.

I hope this selection of Amanpour bodes something better for the future of network news and This Week. Congratulations to ABC on an excellent choice.

Agreed! I try to watch a variety of news on television-- from PBS to CNN to NPR (Amy Goodman). I think I'll watch Ms Amanpour from time to time, too!
