I was kinda of.... well disappointed. The original was great and unique.

The 25th Anniversary edition was well....a sad parody of the original.

I thought that there were to many individuals in the song as opposed to a harmonious song being sung by one group.

I am surprised at least Wycleff or Lionel should have wrote a new version of the song, or something that would be an adequate accompaniment to the original.

I know most people seem horrified at my view for something that is charitable in the end.....

Original vs newer version

I had a similar reaction - the newer version seemed to be more a composite of separate performances and less of a group event than the original. (Thanks, Mark, for digging the original up - I wondered how accurate my memories were.) I think the group dynamic of the original gave it a different energy than the later version, where it was more obvious that a number of parts were recorded separately and alone.

Still - I only found the later version lacking when compared to the original, and it may be that I'm biased.
